Maurean Carolyn Simmons is a native of Sanford, North Carolina, residing in El Paso, Texas since March 1988.  She holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts, from El Paso Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Healthcare Management from Park University.  She is a United States Army retired Nurse  with (21) twenty one years of service, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. After retiring from the Military she worked as a Nurse at the Veterans Healthcare Center for (10) ten years.

In addition to serving on The Mc Call Neighborhood Board of Directors, She has served as Regional Director and continues to serve as District Deputy Grand Matron for  the Order of the Eastern Stars for over (16) years, and the Imperial Deputy for the Oasis of El Paso, Texas for the Daughters of the Imperial Court. She is currently the Vice President for The Martin Luther King Jr. Committee, El Paso, Inc., President of The Phillis Wheatley Civic Club, Vice President of Castner Heights Neighborhood Association, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., member and previous Secretary for The Womens Department of the El Paso Chamber of Commerce, a seated member of When We All Vote, member of the Widows Ministry of Fellowship of Love Church, Paid up for Life member of The American Legion Post 832, Paid up for life member of the VFW Post 812,and Paid up for life member of the NAACP.
